Pony ride

Here is a layout of my oldest riding a pony for the first time:
I used Doodlebug - Barnyard - papers and stickers from an Apron Strings Soup for One. I added fabric tape from Love My Tapes and Pink Paislee cardstock alphabets - chocolate whimsies. American Craft (red) and Core'dinations (yellow) cardstock. This LO was based on the Creative Scrapers sketch # 140:

Apron Strings - double LO

I had a great time creating for the Apron Strings blog this month! Here is my last project, which is featured here. Click on the image to see it enlarged.
I used the Crate Paper - Snow Day - packet from the January'11 Smaller than a bread box kit. I added some stitching with the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Stitch Piercer and aqua floss. Alphas are Doodlebug Designs - Hopscotch - and American Crafts Thickers - LAX - glitter stickers.

And if you are up for a challenge, Lori is inviting everyone to scrap-lift this layout: "colors, handmade embellishments, layout, you name it. Pick something or many things and run with it." Share it by Sunday at the Apron Strings blog.

By the way, this also happens to be the first LO I made away from home. I was visiting my Mom on the MLK weekend and I just took the STBB packet, alphas, photos, my paper trimmer and a small pouch filled with different adhesives and a few tools. This was so easy that I really wish there were crops in town!

Quickest card ever!

This card came together so fast it was astonishing:
I used fabric tape from Love My Tapes; Warm Cord Brads by Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker; Cosmo Cricket tiny Type stickers; American crafts and Kraft cardstock. A little pen stitching around the edges I learned from Kristina Werner and done!

Giraffes

I've been reading more of those Gaslight  Mysteries... I read Murder on Mulberry Bend, Murder on Marble Row, Murder on Lenox Hill, and now I'm reading Murder in Little Italy this week. But I did get this one LO made:
I used some My Mind's Eye - Alphabet Soup - papers from the Mosh Posh September'10 kit and added a Reminisce -  Giraffe Stripes - paper from The Wild collection. Orange cardstock is American Crafts, the yellow one is Core'dinatons, which I sanded a bit then stitched with the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Stitch Piercer using the  Zig Zag head and orange floss. May Arts ribbon, K&Co. journaling tag, and Pink Paislee cardstock alphabets - chocolate whimsies. This LO is based on the Creative Scrapers sketch #139:

Apron Strings and Sketch Inspirations

Apron Strings is sponsoring Sketch Inspirations this week, so head over there to play along and maybe even win a great Apron Strings prize. All you have to do is create a project with Sketch #203:
Here is my take:
I used the Scenic Route - Salem - packet from my Apron Strings Croptoberfest prize, plus some Heidi Grace rub-ons and black K&Co. cardstock.

You have until midnight on Saturday (CST) to upload your Sketch #203 project to the Sketch Inspirations gallery and be eligible for this week's prize: the January'11 Smaller than a bread box kit.

Apron Strings - more cards

With the scraps from my LO using the Bella Blvd - Socialite - packet from the January'11 Smaller than a bread box kit I made the following cards, which are featured on the Apron Strings blog today:
For the first card, I stitched the tulle onto the patterned paper with the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Stitch Piercer using the  Zig Zag head. The aqua floss is also from them and I added a SRM sentiment sticker from my stash.
This second card also has the aqua floss, but threaded through the mesh. The pin, tulle and flower were attached with Extreme Glue Squares, by GlueArts.

Gaslight Mysteries

I can't remember how I ended up buying the first book of the Gaslight Mysteries, Murder on Astor Place. But I really enjoyed the book and I decided to buy a few more. I read Murder on St. Mark's Place last week and Murder on Gramercy Park in the last two days while I was home with my little one and his stomach virus. I was going to say "the latter was my favorite" but that would sound like I meant the virus -- which I definitely did not enjoy! These books are set in New York City in the late 1800's and the mystery solvers are a police detective and a midwife. The books are easy to read and engaging, with a good mix of suspense and humor. Next on my list is Murder on Washington Square...

Apron Strings Blog Hop!

Welcome to the last stop on the Apron Strings Blog Hop! As this month's Guest Designer I am thrilled to join in the welcome to the new Sous Chefs:

I hope you stopped by their blogs to say hello and get inspired!

To add another serving of inspiration, here is a layout I made with the Bella Blvd - Socialite - packet from the January'11 Smaller than a bread box kit:
I added some Ranger Stickles glue glitter in aqua to the scallop circles. The edges were inked with a black calligraphy chisel pen (great for inking scallops!). The black alphas were included in a prize Lori sent me as a Croptoberfest winner. Go play along with the challenges on the Apron Strings blog, they are so much fun and Lori gives out great cookie jar treats! If you leave me a comment I might grab one for you :)

And if you have finished the hop and collected all the phrases, email all your phrases to Lori at lori@apronstringsdesigns.com by Sunday (1/9/11) evening - you could win an Apron Strings Basic Grey 2011 Calendar kit!

Why Apron Strings? Because completed pages are a piece of cake!

Apron Strings - scrap card

Here is a card I made for the the Apron Strings blog, which is featured here. I used scraps from my previous layout using My Mind's Eye - Fine and Dandy (January'11 Smaller than a bread box kit).
Here is the inside:
Only the alphas were not from the kit, they are Pink Paislee cardstock alphabets -- chocolate whimsies.
